Living in Paradise

A mild tropical climate and unspoiled shoreline have been the attraction for Naples since the 1800s. Once inhabited by Calusa Indians, this jewel that stretches from the Gulf of Mexico to the edge of The Everglades is now dotted with grand estates, manicured streetscapes, and world-class amenities like top-rated golf courses and designer shopping districts.

Beauty is in the view of the beholder, and nothing could be more beautiful than the protected sanctuaries that permeate this coastal town. The Naples Botanical Garden, Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary and the historic gardens at the Naples Zoo are just a few of the places that help connect people with the environment.

Thriving with the arts, Naples is home to the Naples Philharmonic Center for the Arts, a community-grown center that also offers the Naples Museum of Art; Opera Naples with its community outreach program for young children; and the Von-Liebig Art Center that promotes contemporary visual arts. Numerous art fairs and exhibits are offered all year long, and fine art galleries line the best shopping streets.

It’s easy to get to here. A municipal airport with private jet facilities is located right in the heart of town, making Naples an easy escape from most anywhere. Once you land, you’re just a Vespa away from balmy on-shore breezes and the famous Naples sunset (best viewed from the pier). Some of the nation’s top executives have selected Naples as the best place to call home, and once you see Naples we hope you do too.

A century of progress has turned Bonita Springs and Estero from sleepy fishing villages into the most popular places to enjoy all the outdoor activities. Fisherman and boaters can live directly on canals that wind through the communities, connecting the Imperial River, the Estero River and Spring Creek to Estero Bay (Florida’s first aquatic preserve) and the Gulf of Mexico. “Bonita” means beautiful, and that’s what it is, with a beach that extends north to Lovers Key State Park – where nature as its purest offers an up-close look for everyone, including the sea turtles that nest there from May to October.

If golf and tennis are your passion, then myriad opportunities exist, both public and private, for year-round enjoyment. Over 30 golf courses satisfy all levels of play, and tennis courts abound at public parks and in private neighborhoods.

Shoppers delight! The Miromar Outlets, Coconut Point Mall and Gulf Coast Town Center offer everything from designer labels to the finest fly rods. Gastronomic delicacies range from locally caught seafood to world-class gelato.

A thriving arts community, Gulf Coast University and the close proximity of the Southwest Florida International Airport make the Bonita Springs and Estero communities two of the most sought-after areas in Florida.

A favorite destination of locals, vacationers and snowbirds is Fort Myers Beach on Estero Island, located just north of Lovers Key State Park on the Gulf of Mexico. Its long swath of white sandy beach is dotted with island-style homes and luxury condos. Spectacular sunsets are rampant and known to happen daily, so be advised to have sandals and camera ready at all times.

While half the island is beachside, the other is pure boating pleasure with a lacework of Gulf-access canals off bay waters that offer quick and easy access to the Intracoastal Waterway. You can go south to Naples or north to Sanibel/Captiva and east via the Caloosahatchee River to Lake Okeechobee to Miami and beyond. Living on the bay side of the island offers breathtaking views of natural Florida.
